Alrighty, it’s official, I’m approaching 30 and freaking out about the wrinkles in my skin (and the tire forming around my waist). I know certain aspects of life are expected to change when you age, but I don’t want my skin to be the first. I’ve tried everything over the counter and never really feel like I’m getting the results I paid for. Thousands of dollars later I finally brought it back to basics.
I turned my attention to natural remedies and did some reading about what keeps our skin elastic and youthful. Our diet has a lot to do with how our body functions and the wellness of our skin. Everything from vitamins & minerals to moisturizing plays a key role in our skin’s health. With that said, I’m going to share some skin saving routines that I use to keep shit tight.
– Mud masks are a great way to detoxify the skin and exfoliate the dead stuff. I recommend Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay mixed with Braggs Apple Cider Vinegar (both can be found at Whole Foods). Apply liberally to your face and allow the clay mixture to dry completely before gently rinsing off. This mask is a great, inexpensive way to minimize your pores and get the junk out the trunk.
Pumpkin & Coconut Oil Masks
– Pumpkin is a great source of Vitamin A & C, as well as antioxidants. Coconut oil contains Vitamin E and antimicrobial properties that help protect the skin from wear & tear. Mixing these two together can help to create a stronger, healthier looking face. I mix a teaspoon of both coconut oil and canned pumpkin to create the mask. Apply liberally to your face, gently rubbing it in, and let sit for about 10-15 minutes. Gently rinse from your face. This mask is another inexpensive way to make your skin feel healthier and ready to brave the winter weather!
