It’s my favorite time of year and I couldn’t be more excited to celebrate! For those of you who just aren’t into the holiday season … I apologize for the next couple of weeks with Stray with Me. Of course Christmas (or whatever you celebrate, because this post works with ’em all), should be spent with those you love and cherish your relationship with. But let’s be honest, we’re excited to do a little gift giving too.
For me gift giving isn’t necessarily about the material objects, beautifully wrapped by me of course, but rather the excitement he/she expresses when they open it. When I buy someone a present, it’s not because I feel obligated, but because I found something that I said to myself, “They would love this!” or “This is so them!.” I try to give gifts with meaning; gifts that tell that person I not only know what size shirt they wear, but how they’re favorite store is J. Crew and there was that one time at J. Crew when that guy blah blah blah, and that story was very special to them.
Sometimes, however, finding the perfect gift may seem impossible and you’re forced to rely on a last resort of cash or gift cards. Not saying these are bad gifts, but they’re pretty basic. Next is usually the CVS stop to pick up a generic card to house your basic gift. Don’t do it! The least you can do is add a personal touch to the twenty dollar bills you have planned. I’m giving you two EXTREMELY simple ideas to still tell the recipient of your gift cards/cash that you love them. Love them so much, that you took 10 minutes out of your day to make their gift a little more special!
First, a card. Pitch the lame Hallmark cards and make them yourself, take that twenty five bucks you just saved and go to Michael’s Craft (don’t forget to lookup a coupon on your phone when you go). Buy some stamps, some blank cards, and an ink pad. Take your stamp, put some ink on it and stamp away! Bam, you have handmade cards that cost you pennies to make!
Next up, an ornament! Same deal here, go to Michael’s, buy a clear bulb ornament and some funfetti stuff (name?). Roll up your money and tie a piece of funfetti around it. Fill the ornament with funfetti and follow that with the rolled up money. Make sure the opening to the ornament is big enough for a finger. Tah-dah, a cool way to give the gift that everybody loves and could definitely use!
I hope you use these super easy gifting ideas to spice up any cash or gift cards you plan on giving this season! That special someone will definitely appreciate the time you took to show them some extra love. If you have any gift giving ideas of your own, please share below.
